Papa

Its been a while since i last put anything here in this blog, been too
busy working and looking out for my dying father (he succumbed to
cancer this Sunday and got cremated yesterday). Prior to February 2008
everything is just normal. All that changed when one day my mom told
me
“papa is sick “, (Papa undergone chemo and cobalt treatment in 2001
when he was diagnosed with hodgkin’s lymphoma). It was an extremely
painful stressful 3 months, but it was also a very special
time, filled with love and a closeness that transcended our lives as
they previously existed. This experience taught me alot. I wish I had
never had to learn it, but in some ways, I am grateful. I now truly
know what it means to “live in the moment”. Thank you, Papa. I love you.

Oktoberfest

Groove Salad: a
nicely chilled plate of ambient beats and grooves.

well, its the 29th of october, election day, liquor ban. so all you alcoholics out there, just let your liver chill out a little bit. The Beer month is almost over (Oktoberfest). my activities this october? well, went to Metrowalk a couple of times with friends, office mates, online friends and on one occasion i even brought my son Axel. my son drinking? nah, he just turned 14 (for crying out loud). while kenneth, ryan & myself were guzzling beer he’s just sipping on milkshake. but why not let the kid have drink, asked him if he want to try it, he answered yes.  its much better if he’ll have his first taste w/alcohol w/ his old man than learnin to drink with his barkadas. anyway, its not a hard drink or beer, i ordered him a raspberry vodka cruiser , he’s kinda awkward in drinking it at first, but boy when he got the hang of it, the kid just loves it. It tastes like cough syrup daw but much tastier and delicious hehehe. after his first bottle, he’s expecting that i’ll order him another one, sabi ko ” hoy, mas mahal pa nga ang mga iniinom mo kesa sa amin, nawili ka, saka na lang uli, sa christmas maybe”

band of bloggers

If you have what it takes, then join us for the Band of Bloggers “wala lang” sessions. Topics include:

·Blogging
·Monetization
·Pop Culture
·Photography
·Reasons why my girlfriend/boyfriend left me and other love advice from this guy (best reason to go!)

Okay, that spiel sounded really stupid. But seriously though, the past few months has been quite interesting for local bloggers meeting up casually to exchange notes over beer, sisig and crispy pata.

One thing I’ve noticed though. Most bloggers are practicing geeks and the latter have the tendency to get along quite well. A retinue of skills that most people in the industry posses include at least two of the following:

[] maintains a blog
[] plays an instrument
[] into photography
[] dabbles with photoshop
[] watches anime
[] knows how to program
[] girlfriend left him / her because of hobby obsession
[] knows how to use at least 2 types of operating systems
[] participates in online forums and discussions

Want to contribute to the “proud to be a geek” list? Leave a comment

9/11

9/11September 11, 2001 , exactly six years ago,  consisted of a series of coordinated terrorist suicide attacks by Islamic extremists on that date upon the United States of America. That same morning (i stepped on dog poop near my Mom’s House in Bulacan) nineteen terrorists affiliated with al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial passenger jet airliners. Each team of hijackers included a trained pilot. The hijackers intentionally crashed two of the airliners (United Airlines Flight 175 and American Airlines Flight 11) into the World Trade Center in New York City, one plane into each tower (1 WTC and 2 WTC), resulting in the collapse of both buildings soon afterward and irreparable damage to nearby buildings. The hijackers crashed a third airliner (American Airlines Flight 77) into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, near Washington, D.C. Passengers and members of the flight crew on the fourth aircraft (United Airlines Flight 93) attempted to retake control of their plane from the hijackers; that plane crashed into a field near the town of Shanksville in rural Somerset County, Pennsylvania. In addition to the 19 hijackers, 2,974 people died as an immediate result of the attacks, and the death of at least one person from lung disease was ruled by a medical examiner to be a result of exposure to WTC dust. Another 24 people are missing and presumed dead. The victims were predominantly civilians.

Buhay Flip

Anatomy of a Blog

images.jpg Know what? The most common reasons why folks out there blog & exchange links are:

  •  1. They want to be noticed
  •  2. They want to test their literary prowess
  •  3. They want to impress others and brag about how many visitor hits he/she got. as if its the main reason why  he/she made a blog anyway
  •  4. To shout to the world how great his/her life have been or how fucked up it was.

but me, my main reason for blogging is just simple.
para makatulong sa mga may sakit at may kapansanan. – yun lang
